Youth Programs

Our family program is one of our key focus areas during the summer season. With a well-rounded children’s program that also includes experienced staff, children and teens can roam the ranch’s property and participate in as many activities as they’d like. We’ve also taken the time to offer specific children-focused activities like kids’ rides, arts and crafts, water activities, a kids’ rodeo, organized games and a Junior Wrangler Program. We’re certain that your kids will fall in love with Flathead Lake Lodge as they experience Montana and create friendships to last a lifetime.

0-6 Years

Children 0-6 years really enjoy their week at the lodge. Daily arts and crafts are a highlight for the younger kids and make for fun souvenirs to take home. Also, each day after the trail riders head off, children under 6 will be given special attention at the stables. The younger kids are able to take pony rides around the barn area led by a family member and wrangler. Arts and crafts is located at the barn and the schedule coincides with adult trail rides throughout the week, so your child will be having fun while you’re off on the trails. Childcare is also available for young children. All of our childcare providers attend a babysitter’s class administered by the local health center.

Trail Rides

Children 6 and older may ride their own horse on the mountain trails with our experienced wranglers. Daily rides are available for children and our friendly wranglers become their close friends throughout the week.

Junior Wrangler program

Our Junior Wrangler Program is a great opportunity for children to learn the basics of horse care and handling by learning from the wranglers throughout the week. Every day children have opportunities to help brush, handle and care for our horses and will become a Junior Wrangler through learning from our friendly wranglers.

Arts & Crafts

Our arts and crafts staff hosts children’s activities throughout the day that are sure to please the kids. Children meet for the scheduled activity at the Arts and Crafts room, located adjacent to the barn. Projects are imaginative, creative and fun for children of all ages. Adults are welcome to join in too!

TEENS

Teen Rides

We have daily teen specific rides for any guests 13-18 years of age. This allows our teenage guests to get to know each other and spend time together out on the trails with our friendly wranglers.

Water Sports

The lakefront is always a popular spot for teens. Many teens enjoy stand up paddle boarding which has become a hit since we introduced them to the lodge a few years back. Popular among beach communities all over the country, stand up paddle boarding has become a favorite activity for teens at the Lodge. In addition, teens can spend the afternoon wake boarding, water skiing, or knee boarding off the ski dock, a great opportunity for experienced or first time skiers! The pool is always a great spot to lounge on hot afternoons, as are the canoes and kayaks which are always available.

Mountain Laser Tag

We are very excited about offering mountain laser tag to our guests. Our newest activity, laser tag has taken off as an insanely fun activity for teens and parents alike! Guests head out to a mountain course where teams compete on rugged terrain. Climbing in trees, hiding behind boulders, laying in tall grass, and creating makeshift camouflage brings out the kid in every participant. Games are especially fun when fathers and sons face off for vacation bragging rights.
